She explained, “But you know, I think as I started a family it became really difficult for me to sustain both worlds and also cater to that curiosity of playing other different characters or earthlings, you know, but I am happy in space. I’ve always been happy in space. I also have a relationship with people who love space.”

Zoe says she refers to directors like James Gunn and James Cameron as they all see themselves as “outsiders”.

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actress said: ‘I’ve been in relationships with guys like James Gunn and James Cameron and JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg. Because maybe there’s a common thread, maybe there’s something we all have in common, which is knowing what it’s like to be an outsider and growing up feeling like we don’t belong and finding that space to be this blank canvas has created on which you can imagine the unimaginable.

“And the fact that they’ve seen me, a little girl from Queens, and I can do these things for them, I can only be so grateful when they keep calling me back.”
