Zelenskyy speaks with world leaders after the minister’s death in a helicopter crash

Ukrainian President Volodmir Zelenskyy addressed world leaders on Wednesday after at least 25 people including Ukraine’s Interior Minister Denis Monastirski and three children were killed in a helicopter crash near a children’s school on the outskirts of Kyiv.

Zelenskyy said the accident was a “horrible tragedy” and that he was not concerned for his own safety after losing one of the most important men in his government.

The Ukrainian leader also said that “we are running out of time” and that “global security is at risk”.

“Tyranny trumps democracy,” he said. “The world must think, decide and act. The world hesitates while Russia occupies Ukraine. Russia exports terror, Ukraine wants to offer peace.”

Zelensky also noted that Ukraine has been resisting for almost a year and that the country’s actions are showing positive results, “we are saving thousands of lives.”

“Three years ago the world was fighting Covid19, now the world is fighting Putin, in three years we will have other challenges. History repeats itself,” he added.

He also reminded that it was not Ukraine that started the war, but it will be up to the country to end it.

In conclusion, Zelenskyy thanked the nations helping Ukraine and urged them to continue doing so, as Russian actions are “a disrespect to people”.

“Russians are terrorists. They have to open their eyes and recognize their mistakes. We have to guarantee security so that there can be a civilized world.”
