President Volodymyr Zelensky called for comprehensive peace talks with Russia to stop its invasion, warning that Ukraine’s retaliation would take Russia “several generations” to recover.

“I want everyone to hear me now, especially in Moscow. It’s time for a meeting. It’s time to talk,” he said. “The time has come to restore territorial integrity and justice for Ukraine. Otherwise, Russia’s losses will be such that it will take you several generations to restore them, ”Zelensky said in a video message, Reuters reports.

Despite heartbreaking footage from Ukraine showing cities under siege and a refugee crisis, Russia was surprised by the strength of the Ukrainian opposition as Putin attacked cities in an attempt to undermine Ukrainian morale.

British intelligence recently said that Russia’s offensive into Ukraine was “largely stalled on all fronts,” and US intelligence suggests that 7,000 Russian soldiers were killed in action.

Russian troops continue to devastate cities and towns across Ukraine, and in Mayrupol, a city in southeastern Ukraine, maternity hospitals, cinemas, steel plants and residential buildings have been destroyed.

The governor of the Eastern Luhansk religion of Ukraine, Serhiy Gaidai, wrote on Telegram that a humanitarian evacuation corridor would open on Saturday.

Earlier, several humanitarian corridors and a ceasefire were agreed with the Russians, including in the besieged Mariupol, but they were repeatedly frustrated.
