The Maromba of immunization is it! After a curious photo of the vaccination, “Zé Gotão” went viral on the internet and was pumping all over Brazil this week. In light of the impact of this new icon, RN 1, a news program by a TV Globo subsidiary in Rio Grande do Norte, revealed who is behind the pumpedup version of the vaccine mascot in Brazil.
It all started with a recording of the character last Sunday (12), during a vaccination campaign in Natal. The mascot’s physique attracted attention, as instead of the “Gotilline” look, it featured a tight fitting allwhite body and a very muscular appearance. It wasn’t long before Zé Gotão took over the internet. Look that:
Already this Wednesday (15th), the Inter TV team followed the new Natalense character and managed to get hold of her. And where was Ze Gotao? To be more precise, in the gym their second natural habitat after the health clinics. The costumed character paused to speak to the reporter and revealed the trick behind his body: “It takes good food and physical activity to get through the campaign there.”

Until the person behind the mask killed all of our curiosity. Ednaldo Santos, health officer, sports teacher and dentist, turned out to be Zé Gotão and explained how the invitation came about. “This costume was for the unity campaign [de saúde] of Vista Verde and we wanted to attract more publicity and now that it was in the campaign the district invited us to participate,” he explained.

According to Ednaldo, he was the one who built the whole Zé Gotão fantasy. “This was me. Including the head. Made from cardboard, foam, and then it worked,” he said. He also hasn’t hidden how he’s enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. “Boy, it’s great [o assédio]. Everyone texts me, asks if it’s me, and then it’s me. I’ve always posted campaign photos and I’ve never taken the head off of Zé Gotão,” he said.

Like Zé Gotinha, Zé Gotão was pleased with the impact and drew attention to the vaccination campaign. “It’s good [o assédio]. Even for us to publicize the work we do at the health center. There have been several memes on the internet about this new character who entered the millennial lineage of Zé Gotinhas. While many people were thirsty, others envisioned the doses that Zé Gotão’s fitness would give. “I wanted Zé Gotinha to sting young people and not just droplets for children,” joked one profile. “Zé Gotinha cured of Covid,” joked another.
