Let’s start the ownership tour with the XG7 and XG5 replacing the Xboom Go PL7 and PL5 respectively. They radically change the design for a more cubic design, but they keep their two passive radiators surrounded by a multicolored lighting system. On the top is a row of buttons that are used for powering on, pairing or volume management, among other things. Both models are IP67 certified (therefore waterproof) and can be managed via the LG Xboom mobile app. Added to this is Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity with support for multipoint functionality.

XG7

The XG7 weighs 1.1 kg and measures 26.1 x 9.8 x 9.5 cm. It is equipped with a 5.3 x 9.3 cm elliptical full-range speaker supported by a 2 cm dome tweeter. It promises 24 hours of battery life and has a USB-C port for charging, a mini-jack input and a USB-A port to charge an external device such as a smartphone. The XG7 is expected for the month of September at a price of 199 euros.

LG Xboom Go XG7

The XG5 is more modest, both in terms of its dimensions, its acoustic architecture and the number of ports provided. It weighs 700 g and has a volume of 22.2 x 8.3 x 8 cm. It dispenses with the tweeter of the XG7 and makes do with a single elliptical full-range driver measuring 4.2 x 8 cm. It also loses the USB-A port but retains the mini-jack input and USB-C port. Autonomy is also at half mast with a promise of 18 hours per charge. The XG5, which started for 149 euros, should be available at the same time as the XG7.

Very timidly presented, the XG9 competes with the JBL Boombox and the Sony XG-500. Given its size and weight, the XG9 undoubtedly falls into the portable speaker category. It has a handle for easy portability. The speaker is also IP67-rated, making it resistant to dust and temporary water immersion.

Inside there is 1 tweeter mounted on a cone-shaped architecture that allows a homogeneous distribution of the treble. The XG9 is also equipped with a technology called “Stage Lightning” that makes it possible to manage potential reflections off the walls to offer a coherent soundstage. The tweeter is supported by 2 broadband loudspeakers and 2 passive radiators. On the autonomy side, the XG9 promises 24 hours of operation per charge.

The XG9 is scheduled to be launched at the end of September at a price of 499 euros.

As the successor to the RP4, the XO3 differs greatly from the other speakers presented. With a more sedentary look and quite bulky (it weighs 3.2 kg and measures 16.5 x 32.7 x 16.5 cm), it is nevertheless portable with its handle on top and its integrated battery that promises 20 hours of autonomy. So it can be taken from the house into the garden without hesitation, especially since it withstands splash water with its IP54 certification.

The XO3 is also well equipped to be the focal point of your evenings thanks to its play of light and its 360° diffusion. In fact, the placement of the speakers would allow the cabinet to disperse the sound in a homogeneous way all around. Thus, on the top we find a 2.5 cm diameter tweeter, a 5.2 cm speaker in charge of reproducing the media, also directed upwards, and a 10.2 cm speaker for bass reproduction. The XO3 also features an automatic physiological equalization system that allows sound reproduction to remain more or less the same regardless of listening volume.

In addition to Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity and multipoint support, the XO3 offers a mini-jack input and a USB-C port for charging. The speaker can also be paired with a second XO3 for stereo playback and up to a hundred others in “party” mode. These pairing options are also available with the XG Series speakers shown above.

The XO3 will be available from early September at a price of 299 euros.
