XFL Week 1 live updates: results, highlights as the St. Louis BattleHawks and San Antonio Brahmas begin Sunday

The XFL is back after temporarily shutting down its doors in 2020, and after a wild start to the season, two more games are scheduled on Sunday to wrap up Week 1.

It begins with the St. Louis BattleHawks — led by former NFL quarterback AJ McCarron — traveling to San Antonio to take on the Brahmas, who are coached by former Steelers star Hines Ward. Sunday’s nightcap sees the Seattle Sea Dragons and quarterback Ben DiNucci take on the DC Defenders, who started the season at #1 in our Power Rankings.

In Saturday’s opener, the Arlington Renegades’ TJ Barnes sacked Vegas Vipers quarterback Luis Perez on a two-point conversion attempt that would have leveled it, capping the Renegades’ frantic second-half comeback with their 22-20 win. In the late game, Wade Phillips’ Houston Roughnecks defeated the Orlando Guardians 33-12. The Roughnecks are yet to lose in the XFL, having recorded the only perfect 5-0 record in 2020 before the league closed.
