The Royal Rumble is one of the biggest events on the WWE calendar each year. As with any major premium live event, the biggest stars are usually on the map. For example, Bianca Belair and Alexa Bliss will compete at the Royal Rumble for the Raw Women’s Championship. Although Charlotte Flair is the “SmackDown” Women’s Champion, she is not scheduled to have a match on the show. Instead, they The next scheduled title defense will take place in one of the next episodes of “Smackdown”.
Since her return earlier this month and the dethronement of Ronda Rousey, The Queen has found a highly motivated Sonya Deville. On January 6, the “Pride Fighter” failed in a championship game against Flair. Since the loss, Deville has verbally and physically confronted the champion for another shot at the title.
Flair finally had enough this week after her interview was on the Out of Character podcast abruptly interrupted by Deville. The 14-time champion turned to WWE Official Adam Pearce later in the episode and demanded that the match be made as both competitors are out to get their hands on each other.
The pair will meet in the ring on the February 3 edition of “WWE SmackDown” on Fox, with the title on the line. This episode will also feature the finale of the “SmackDown” Tag Team Championship Tournament when Imperium meets Braun Strowman and Ricochet at the last minute. To paraphrase the Brawling Brutes, after the Royal Rumble, it’s going to be bang after bang for the blue brand.
