Workers rescue a raccoon whose testicles were frozen and trapped in a splint

Train workers were hailed as heroes after rescuing a raccoon whose testicles were stuck on a rail track. The situation was even more risky for the animal, as it could have been run over at any moment.

The unlikely rescue took place on December 19 in Georgia, USA. At that time, the region experienced a freezing temperature of 12 °C due to particularly severe winter storms.

The stuck animal was found by railway worker Neil Mullis, who called some colleagues and used warm water and a shovel to remove the raccoon’s privates from the track.

“I spilled the warm water while a coworker was digging under his butt to try and free him,” Neil said in an interview with content agency SWNS.

According to the employee, the animal was so relieved to be released that it didn’t even have time to say thank you.

“After about five minutes of slowly letting go of him, he [o guaxinim] it was free. Then he jumped off the railing and ran into the woods without looking back.”

Aside from the rescue, the rest of the case is a mystery: Officials don’t know how long the animal was trapped there or why it crossed (and possibly sat on) the tracks.

After the raccoon was pulled out of its predicament, part of its fur got caught in the railing.
