23-year-old in Reichenbach apparently raped and injured

The 23-year-old victim apparently returned home to Plochingen from her job in Reichenbach (Baden-Württemberg) as usual on Friday night – albeit on foot, in the dark, through meadows and fields. Then came the shock: the 36-year-old suspect allegedly attacked the young woman and threatened her with a knife.

The alleged attacker apparently took his victim to a nearby garden shed and held the woman captive there. Particularly terrible: according to the police, the man raped the 23-year-old girl and she was slightly injured.

Police began a full-scale search for the woman on Friday. Authorities were alerted around 11pm after the 23-year-old failed to return home as usual. Several police officers were on duty, even a police helicopter and several teams of dogs were used in the searches.

And yet, it took until Saturday night for officials to receive the decisive tip: passers-by drew the attention of some firefighters in Reichenbach to a garden shed in which an unknown man was allegedly staying. As emergency services approached the cabin, they noticed the young woman being kept inside.

The victim managed to stay to safety by jumping out of a window in the cabin. She was then taken to a hospital. Police arrested the alleged perpetrator a little later on a nearby dirt road. He was wounded with a knife and had to be hospitalized.

The alleged perpetrator was brought before the magistrate on Sunday and is currently in custody. So far, according to police, the 36-year-old has not given any information about the alleged crime. The police continue to investigate the case. (jda)
