Widespread outage at Jean Coutu stores in Montreal: services restored

On Wednesday, Montreal pharmacies Jean Coutu and Brunet were hit by a general outage for much of the morning.

Several branches across the city have confirmed to the QMI agency that a breakdown forced them to close the doors of their pharmacies around 8am.

“We are having problems with the POS system at the Jean Coutu and Brunet pharmacies. Our teams are working very hard to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” confirmed the group’s communications manager, Catherine Latendresse, in an email sent to the QMI agency in the morning.

Services were restored around 11:30 am.

The cause of the failure is still unknown, but the group has confirmed “that it is not a cyber attack”.
