According to him, the motorist would have signaled his intention to turn “less than six meters ahead” and “less than five seconds before I arrived.”

The journalist didn’t mince his words towards the driver, even though the latter had already apologized to him.

“He said ‘Sorry I didn’t see you,'” Mr. Vine tweeted. Apologies are always accepted. But this man needs a new driving course.”

Mr Vine’s comments in this regard drew strong reactions on Twitter, with several users defending the driver while others tended to support Mr Vine, particularly for “educating” the motorist.

According to the Highway Code, motorists are allowed to cross the solid white line of a bike lane when turning left or entering private property.

However, motorists must give way to cyclists using the lane so that they do not have to stop or take evasive action.
