A 115-year-old girl born in the USA and living in Spain may be the oldest after the death of French nun André – she was considered the oldest person in the world.

A 115-year-old Spaniard is believed to be the world’s oldest person following the death of the previous record holder. Maria Branyas is “probably” now the oldest person in the world, said age researcher Robert D. Young, who also works as a consultant for the Guinness Book of Records. However, this still needs to be officially confirmed after verification of all documents, Young told the AFP news agency.

Branya is possibly the oldest human in the world

Branyas was born on March 4, 1907 in San Francisco, USA. In 1915 the family moved to Spain. The 115-year-old has lived in a nursing home in Olot, in northeastern Spain, for about two decades. The latter announced that there should be “a small party” “to honor this special event”.

Branyas’ daughter, meanwhile, blamed good TV genes for her mother’s longevity. “She was never in the hospital, she never broke a bone.” At 113 years old, Branyas has safely survived a corona infection.

Sister was considered the oldest person in the world

Until then, the French nun André was considered the oldest person in the world. She died on Tuesday night, just days before her 119th birthday, which she would have celebrated on February 11.
