The Love Island 2023 lineup was unveiled on Monday as fans eagerly count down to the show’s return on January 16.
And among those set to enter the South African mansion is gym teacher and semi-pro rugby player Kai Fagan, who reveals he hopes to find a “real connection” with someone at the famous mansion

Who is Kai Egan?
Before signing up with Love Island, Manchester-born Kai worked as a science and physical education teacher and also played semi-professional rugby for Burnage RFC.
He says: “I am a Jamaican citizen. That’s why I played rugby 7s for Jamaica. I now play semi-professional rugby for Burnage RFC.
“Technically, I have three different degrees and went to three different universities.”
When asked who he would like to play in a movie based on his life, Kai adds, “Michael B. Jordan, he’s pretty cool.”
Kai explains why he decided to enter the Love Island mansion and says he hopes to find genuine feelings with another woman as they will be spending so much time together at the mansion.

He says: “When you meet someone for the first time, you usually never spend that much time with them. So if you’re really looking for a connection, the villa is the perfect place to do it.”
Kai reveals he’s in love with Margot Robbie and admits he’s already picked his dream dinner guests, adding: “Martin Luther King, Muhammad Ali, Sir Alex Ferguson and probably Sylvester Stallone… it’s an odd one group of people, right ?’
What is Kai Egan’s claim to fame?
While many viewers will first spot Kai entering the Love Island mansion, this won’t be his first exposure to the celebrity world.
He explains: “My cousin Dean [Fagan] was on Coronation Street. I went to school with Marcus Rashford and we were in the same class.
“The school I went to was sponsored by Manchester United – that’s why I got so many experiences.”

Why is Kai Egan single?
Kai admits he decided to remain single “voluntarily” because he was struggling to find the woman of his dreams.
He explains: “I’m looking for the right girl. I feel like I have pretty high expectations. I don’t feel like I should commit to anyone unless I’m absolutely buzzing about them because it’s not fair to them.
On what he hopes to bring to the villa, Kai adds: “I’m quite light-hearted, I love to laugh. I’m also really calm and relaxed, fairly level headed, fairly mature… but not too mature.’

Like every Love Island star, Kai has his own horrific date story, detailing the moment his male pal called off a double date.
He says: “My boyfriend set me and him up on a double date at a bar in Manchester. He didn’t show up at the bar so I was there alone with these two girls and had to spend a lot of money!’
But Kai already has plans for a dream date if money weren’t an issue, saying, “I’d want to get some of these slip suits and fly over New York. She’ll never be able to say she’s done this before!’
