When Alberto Radius played in Treviglio, on the stage of the (lamented) bell tower Prima Treviglio

Twelve years ago Alberto Radius also played on the stage in Viale del Partigiano, who died yesterday at the age of 80

Once Upon a time the bell tower, and the crowded concert seasons in what has been the quintessential “pub” in Treviglio for years. With a touch of nostalgia, the photographs of one of those evenings emerge today from the punctually filled drawers of a reader, which very often contained real “big shots” of Italian music and beyond. It was February 21, 2011 and we entered the small stage in Viale del Partigiano Albert Radius, with his guitar. Founding guitarist, vocalist and record producer of “Formula 3” died yesterday, Thursday 16 February 2023, at 80 years.

Radius was born in 1942 and began making music with some of the artists who soon took part in the Premiata Forneria Marconi. With Tony Cicco and Gabriele Lorenzi he founded Formula 3 with the support of the “Number One” Lucio Battisti, with whom he worked for a long time. In 1974 he founded the band Il Volo with Mario Lavezzi, Vince Tempera, Gianni Dall’Aglio, Bob Callero and Gabriele Lorenzi. In addition to Battisti, he has written and collaborated with artists such as Marcella Bella, Pierangelo Bertoli, Cristiano Malgioglio, Franco Battiato, Alice, Milva, Sibilla, Giusto Pio and Giuni Russo. Yesterday the news of the disappearance, spread by the family with a note. “After a long illness, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his closest relatives.”

There are also some videos on Youtube of the performance in Treviglio, with Enrico Bianchi on vocals and keyboards: here “With the pink ribbon”, by Lucio Battisti.

The bell tower of Treviglio

Opened in 1994, the Clock Tower was one of the first Irish-style pubs in the area. Beer production was added to distribution in 2003, one of the first experiments of this kind at provincial level. The actual brewery of the Elav county in Comun Nuovo was born in 2010. Countless cultural evenings were organized in the first two decades of the 2000s. The local historian of Treviglio tapped his last beer in 2020.
