What is GNOME

The GNOM, as stated, is a small multi-function robot designed primarily for war purposes, although it can also be used in a civilian context. It is made directly in Ukraine by the company Temerland, which is based in Zaporozhye, a city that made international news headlines several times during the conflict, also because of the presence of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. Basically, as stated by the manufacturer, the GNOM has all-wheel drive and is powered by a small 5.44 hp electric motor. Thanks to 5 GHz WLAN technology, it can be remotely controlled via smartphone or tablet within a radius of around 5 kilometers. The vehicle, equipped with a depth camera for operator guidance and autonomous movement, a 360° panoramic camera on a telescopic pole and an IR (infrared) illuminator for operation in the dark, is only 570 meters long, 380 high and 600 wide. The basic weight is 50 Kilogram. The hull is made of 2mm thick steel. It is therefore a small vehicle that can go almost unnoticed in use, also thanks to the quiet engine.

What is GNOM for

There are several variants of the robot, each designed for a specific task. The main tasks that GNOM can perform include monitoring and enlightenment; delivery of ammunition and food; evacuation of the injured by a special car; Repeaters to improve communication and control of other larger robotic platforms deployed in the field. That GNOME WITH TURELLFor example, it is intended to “support fire brigade units, carry out sabotage maneuvers and save lives,” according to the company statement. That Gnome with anti-tank guided missile Instead, it’s a real weapon of war, capable of stealthy destruction of armored vehicles with a powerful guided missile. There are also GNOME KAMIKADZE equipped with explosives and lo GNOME – EXPLOSION ENGINEER used for mine clearance and unexploded ordnance handling, completely eliminating the risks to personnel.
