Fast-food chain Wendy’s has unveiled a new global restaurant design, dubbed “Global Next Gen,” as part of an effort to “deliver more Wendy’s to more people, with an emphasis on convenience, speed and accuracy.”
The “sleek and modern” restaurant building, according to Wendy’s, will open in spring 2023 with a location in New Albany, Ohio.
“To accelerate our business and expand our footprint around the world, we must consistently meet the needs of our customers, whether they choose to work with Wendy’s, whether through a digital platform or in the drive-thru,” said Todd Penegor, CEO of Wendy’s. said in a statement. “Global Next Gen improves the customer experience across all ordering channels and streamlines operations for our crew while delivering better returns for franchisees.”

New features of the design include a “dedicated delivery pick-up window and a delivery parking lot [that] makes it more convenient and faster for delivery drivers who previously had to walk into the dining room, take orders and drive off,” according to Wendy’s.

Mobile pick-up shelves will also be built into the interiors of the restaurants, along with a galley-style kitchen “running from the front to the back of the restaurant, increasing efficiency and visibility for the crew across all sales channels.

“The kitchen design allows for efficiencies at the point of sale, allows crew to move between positions more easily throughout the day, and supports faster order processing and culinary innovation,” says Wendy’s.
Founded in 1969, Wendy’s has grown and operates approximately 7,000 restaurants worldwide.
