War in Ukraine: Netherlands ready to supply F 16 fighters to Ukrainian army

The Netherlands could provide F-16 fighter jets to the Ukrainian army if Kyiv asks, the NL Times reports.

Whereas Allies of Ukraine meet this Friday in Ramstein (Germany) to discuss their material assistance to Kyiv, the Netherlands expressed the possibility of providing the Ukrainian army F-16 fighter jets.

Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra said in a parliamentary debate on Thursday that the cabinet would consider such a request “with an open mind”. Kyiv asked for it and that there are “no taboos” about supplying arms to Ukraine, reports the NL Times.

Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren also said in Davos, home of the World Economic Forum, that the Netherlands is ready to help fund the World Economic Forum Leopard 2 heavy tanks that other allies of Kiev could supply the Ukrainian army. “We’re definitely ready for that,” she said, according to Bloomberg.
