Minister Anand announced the post during a visit to Kyiv, where she met her Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksii Reznikov.

The vehicles will be purchased by Roshel, a Mississauga, Ontario based company, at a cost of US$90 million.

Canada had already sent eight of the company’s Senator infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine last year in response to the invading Russian army.

The other 200 armored vehicles are Canada’s latest contribution, after Minister Anand announced last week that Ottawa would deliver an American-made air defense system to Ukraine for $406 million.

According to the federal government, Canada has provided approximately $5 billion in military, financial and humanitarian assistance since Russian forces invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
