Visual artist Elvis Avilés dies

Deceased the visual artist Elvis Aviles, who was ill for a while.

The artist’s remains will be wrapped at the Jardín Memorial Funeral Home from 9:00 am.

Elvis was the son of journalist Fior Gil, according to his mother, the young artist was ill a few months ago, which weakened his health.

The artist presented his exhibition a few years ago “Review”, at the National Gallery of the Palace of Fine Arts, a frank, gestural and exuberant expression that presented a proposal in which the abstract and the seemingly informal predominate

Elvis had a career of 35 years representing his “figurative youth”.

Avilés was born on August 18, 1965 in Santo Domingo. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts. He worked in the workshops of Alberto Bass and Pedro Céspedes, specializing in hyperrealism techniques.

In 1985 he presented his first exhibition at the Arte Propuesta Center, later becoming a famous plastic and hyperrealist artist in the country.

The artist exhibited his works in various galleries in Santo Domingo and several cities in the United States and Latin America. Solo exhibitions include 2003 Orange Alert, Lyle O.
