Visit of US Congressman to El Salvador announced

Ivey, a member of the US Legislative Black Caucus, representing District 4 for Maryland, is accompanied by the clerk of Prince George’s County Court; Mahasin El Amin and Canek Aguirre, Member of Alexandria City Council.

According to reports, the group will assess the country’s social, economic and democratic situation together with representatives of Washington organizations.

The visit will take place between Sunday, February 19 and Thursday, February 23, as part of a mission led by the Central American Resource Center of Washington, DC (Carecen DC) and Alianza Américas, a multi-ethnic network of more than 50 organizations is organized by Latin American and Caribbean immigrants in the USA.

During their stay in that country, the delegation will meet the Vice-President of the Republic, Félix Ulloa; Deputy Foreign Minister Adriana Mira; the director of investments, Clarissa Valdebrán; and the coordinator of the Directorate of Intelligence and Economic Policy, Laura Pacheco.

As explained by Carecen DC Executive Director Abel Núñez, it is suggested that the group learn about the conditions that have forced many Salvadorans to migrate and liaise with all stakeholders in the region to see how migration is being prevented can.
