[VIDÉO] World Cup: The Little Maghreb dances in the rain after Morocco’s victory

Morocco’s win over Spain sent the ‘Petit Maghreb’ region into euphoria on Tuesday afternoon in Montreal.

At the Tim-Gad café-restaurant on Jean Talon Street, a shout of joy crowned the penalty shoot-out as Achraf Hakimi scored the decisive goal while goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, also from Montreal, had previously defeated the Spanish fencers.

“It’s a great honor,” said Hamza Lahti, a supporter whose family is from Morocco. It is the first time that a Maghreb country has qualified for the quarter-finals of a World Cup.

His friends Chabik Selhi and Ryan Omar Yadi, of Algerian descent, shared his joy.

Shortly after the victory, despite the rain, the fans took to the streets dancing and singing.
