A penisshaped statue was placed over the grave of a woman who died at the age of 99. She asked family members to set up the structure. The story of the monument, which was inaugurated last Saturday (23rd), gained popularity on the Internet.

The family of Catarina Orduña Pérez, wellknown among the residents of the small town of Misantla, initially thought she was a joke, but shortly before her death, the woman made it clear that her desire was real. The information comes from Uol and Vice.
“She told me that this was her wish so that no one would forget her and so that everything we loved about her would be remembered more easily,” said Catarina Álvaro Mota Limón’s grandson in an interview with the American website. The woman died in January 2021.
From there, family members gathered to make the request a reality. They contacted Isidro Lavoingnet, an engineer known in the area for building plastic objects such as cisterns and children’s toys.
He too initially thought the request was a joke. “This type of sculpture is not common, especially when it’s made in memory of someone who has died,” he said. However, he soon accepted the mission.
After enlisting the help of more than 10 people, including a sculptor and a carpenter, Isidro, who was 1.6 meters tall and weighed almost 300 kilos, completed the work in about a month. The most complicated part of the construction, according to Catarina’s family members, were the testicles, which had to be made from scratch after being “deformed” in an initial attempt.
The inauguration of the monument took place in a festive atmosphere, with friends and relatives of Catarina standing around the tomb and even with the presence of a music band.

According to Catarina’s grandson, the grandmother said the request was meant to “break the paradigms of Mexicans, who sometimes hide things because they’re not openminded.” After the inauguration of the work and the popularity of the paintings, many sought the builder’s services. Others, however, disagreed with the idea.
“I think out of 10 people, seven see the statue in a positive light. If you don’t see it positively, at least respect your wish. However, there are others who are closed to the situation with their conservative values,” said Catarina’s grandson.
According to him, the family discussed the possibility of criticizing the statue, but still decided to fulfill the older woman’s last wish in life.
