Very cold water the first indoor pool raises the temperature

To save energy, Ried’s indoor pool has lowered the temperature. After complaints from swimmers, more heat is being used again.

It was one of the common energy-saving measures in many bathrooms to lower the water temperature by one notch. This is also the case in Ried im Innkreis.

There the water was only 26 degrees instead of the previous 27 degrees. But that didn’t go well for long. “There were complaints from swimmers,” ÖVP city councilor Josef Heissbauer told “Today”. The criticism is that the 26 degrees are not enough for swimming. However, there are no concrete numbers, but the number of visitors has been decreasing recently. Result: the water is again at 27 degrees. This is financially “manageable”.

Summer operation in Bad Ischl in jeopardy?

In Bad Ischl, the local operator of the park’s swimming pool caused an uproar with a plea for help. An email to city officials warned that with current high costs, summer operations were at risk. “Nothing is agreed yet. The letter was intended as a warning sign. I wanted to draw attention to the difficult situation. But the email should never have reached the public,” said the operator to “Krone”.

“We are all called upon to make contributions,” said Braunau Mayor Johannes Waidbacher (ÖVP) at the end of the summer. At that time it became known that the Innviertler community indoor pool could not have 29 degrees in winter as before, but only 27 degrees.

In a broadcast from the city, it was explained: “Reduced water temperature in the indoor pool and shorter operating times in the sauna world can reduce energy consumption by 17 percent. All fractions represented in the city council’s structural advice agreed that the associated restrictions are justifiable for these large economies.” (more here).
