Great expectations in Cagliari, where in the historic and centuries-old building of the former tobacco factory in Viale Regina Margherita, 33, will arrive from November 11th to February 5th, 2023 the famous exhibition “Van Gogh – The immersive Experience”. A unique opportunity, capable of conquering the world, ready to combine the emotions linked to the unique life of the great Dutch painter with total immersion in the labyrinth of his art. Organized by Alta Classe Lab, SA Manifatture, Musicone Italia, Next Event and Fast Forward, under the patronage of the Municipality of Cagliari, in an exceptional place that has played an important role in the history of the Sardinian capital for many years, the event transports the visitor into the state of life and relive, also thanks to the use of virtual reality viewers, all the sensations of a day with Vincent Van Gogh: from sunrise to sunset in the village of Hales, France. An immersive 360-degree tour for everyone, revolving around a sequence of seven works by Van Gogh.

From waking up in the bedroom (Van Gogh’s bedroom), climbing the stairs, discovering the house from the outside (The White House), advancing in the fields with the meeting of the peasant women (La Siesta), arriving at the “Wheat field with crows” and then “A Field of Wheat with Cypresses” where a speed effect announces the end of the day and the transition to “Starry Night” begins before finally ending the day with the nocturnal painting on the seafront (Starry Night over the Rhone) and the return to the bedroom of the painter.

The aim of the exhibition is to give visitors the opportunity to further know the genius of Vincent Van Gogh and to immerse themselves in the discovery of his world through his works, to see the context in which the painter undertakes to create them and to interpret who gave them.

Regarding the educational-cultural path, the technological development has decisively influenced the daily life of young people, conditioning their reality and their world. With the extraordinary learning ability, many young people are fully immersed in multimedia, interactive and sensory news. In order not to lose history, culture and tradition, it is fundamental and mandatory to introduce young people to art in an appropriate way, and to do this it is necessary to know and communicate with their language.

“Van Gogh – The Immersive Experience” communicates with young people, with the language of youth. It reaches the visitor directly, using new technologies and conveying emotions thanks to the multimedia of an innovative and modern project. It does not replace classic exhibitions, but sells them, improves them, promotes them, immerses the visitor in the painting and makes him the absolute protagonist of the painting. Looking towards a multimedia and technological future, “The Immersive Experience” interacts with the viewer, takes them by the hand and invites them to step into the painting of one of the most beloved painters of all time: a new way of knowing and living the ‘ Art. The visitor explores Vincent’s charms by entering his paintings thanks to an innovative 3D mapping projection system. The paintings come to life and involve and embrace the audience at three hundred and sixty degrees. Every surface becomes art: walls, columns, ceilings, floors, everything is tinted with Van Gogh’s favorite colors, from the deep blue of the starry night to the bright yellow of the sunflowers. In the video tour, which lasts over an hour, it is possible to enjoy art from different angles, standing or lying on the floor, and become an integral part of the painting. The viewer becomes the protagonist of the work, expanding his senses into waves of images and sounds, intense and beautiful.

Van Gogh’s work has been on display for over a century, captivating the world, but never more so than at this exhibition. The simple visual use of the paintings in silent galleries is forgotten in favor of a journey where the audience becomes the protagonist and interacts with the art in ways they could never have imagined. For “Van Gogh – The Immersive Experience” the definition of the word show is expanded because it stimulates the senses and opens the mind.

“Van Gogh – The Immersive Experience” takes visitors into the world of the wonderful artist in no time at all by immersing them in the details of his masterpieces.

Adults and children can find their own way through the personal key of reading, finding meaning and unique perspectives in the visualization of the artworks.

The exhibition remains open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm (last admission 12pm) and from 3pm to 7pm (last admission 6pm). On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with continuous opening hours (last admission at 7:00 p.m.). Closing days on December 24th and 25th, 2022 as well as December 31st and January 1st, 2023. Tickets cost 13 euros for adults and 10 euros for children from 3 to 12 years.
