Vaccination is promoted in Costa Rica in football stadiums

San Jose, August 18 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Health, the Social Security Fund of Costa Rica (CCSS) and the Union of Premier League Soccer Clubs (Unafut) announced today the Golazo vaccination campaign in nine soccer stadiums.

Introducing the campaign against influenza and Covid-19, Director of Health Surveillance Rodrigo Marín pointed out that Costa Rica is a country with a football culture and a history of high vaccination rates.

He assured that the main strategy to combat Covid-19 is vaccination, adding that it is currently important to have booster doses to have a complete scheme.

Recent data on the effectiveness of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine shows that with four doses, the risk of dying from this disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is 96 percent lower than for those who are not vaccinated, Marín pointed out.

For her part, the director of the CCSS Health Services Network, Natalia Bejarano, pointed out that the health sectors organized work teams, logistics and supplies for this strategy.

Bejarano urged the population to keep their vaccination schedule up to date, assuring that respiratory virus vaccines like these are effective in reducing the risk of serious complications and the risk of death from these diseases.

The stadiums of Saprissa, Pérez Zeledón, Grecia, San Carlos, Puntarenas, Guanacasteca, Guadalupe, Santos and Sporting will open vaccinations this weekend in which they will place the first, second, third and fourth doses according to need and in case of influenza according the defined groups that should receive this protection.
