(ANSA) — NEW YORK, AUGUST 11 — The FBI searched for top-secret documents related to nuclear weapons in the raid on Donald Trump’s home. The Washington Post, citing some sources, reported that the unusual search underscored deep concerns within the US government about the nature of the information held by the former president at Mar-a-Lago and the risk it could end up being false Hands.
Nuclear weapons documents are particularly sensitive and their distribution is usually limited to a small group of people. Release of details about American weapons could give adversaries an advantage. “If it were true” that these were nuclear weapons documents, “it would be classified material at the highest level,” said David Laufman, the former chief of intelligence at the US Department of Justice.
