US airport worker sucked into plane’s engine in horrific accident

An airport worker died at Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama after being sucked into an airplane engine in a horrific incident, the New York Post reported.

The worker was sucked into the engine of the Embraer 170 on Dec. 31 in the freak accident that saw the plane’s parking brake engaged, the report said.

While the plane was parked after a flight out of Dallas, one of its engines was still running. The worker was included in the engine at this point.

“We are saddened by the tragic loss of a team member at AA/Piedmont Airlines,” the airport’s executive director Wade Davis said in a statement.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time,” he added.

“We are focused on making sure everyone involved has the support they need during this difficult time,” American Airlines said in a statement to the New York Post.

Meanwhile, the airport has reopened after an immediate closure following the accident that shocked everyone. The incident is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transpiration Safety Board, The Mirror reported.
