On Thursday night, friends of the Pugh family shared the following update from Ashley regarding Gracie and Jayleigh.

“Right now the girls are stable but they both have a very long road to recovery ahead of them. Gracie, 12, when she originally came to Nanticoke [hospital]She couldn’t feel anything from the waist down. She was diagnosed with an L2 dislocation and an L3 and L4 fracture in her back with spinal cord compression. After Nanticoke stabilized her, they transferred her to another hospital and she felt something in her thighs again, but nothing below her knee. She was taken straight to an MRI and surgery around 3am on Wednesday morning. The doctor was able to relieve the spinal cord compression and the surgery went as expected. When you have trauma to your spinal cord, it’s a waiting game. With the swelling and trauma, you’ll have to wait. She still has feeling in her thighs but no movement yet. Gracie felt tingling in her feet every now and then today. Your progress will be on a daily basis for the coming months. She has fairly bad bruises but no other injuries have been diagnosed at this time.

“Jayleigh was diagnosed with an open fracture of the tibia and fibula in Nanticoke where she underwent surgery. They put in an external fixator and sent her back to the hospital. She was diagnosed with a C7 fracture in her neck and placed in a neck brace which she will wear for six weeks. She also has an L3 and L4 fracture in her back which can be treated with a back brace for around 12 weeks .She has a broken right collarbone from the seat belt and a broken rib on the right side. She has a small left pneumothorax, which is the air between the lungs and the chest wall, not in the lungs. They’re just monitoring that as it’s not big enough for surgery at this point, which is a blessing “Today she was diagnosed with a perforated bowel with free fluid in her abdomen, she had internal bleeding in her abdomen. They knew about it and they were watching it and today they were able to locate it and figure out where it was this surgery went great got that in there and got the bleeding under control and got her back on her feet she was in the OR today about it they did a colon resection meaning they got a little away from it, nothing that will have long-term effects. While she was down there, the orthopedist decided to wash out her leg again and manipulate the bones for better alignment. She still has the external fixator and they put an NG tube in her nose to decompress her stomach, they will take it out tomorrow and she will allow it ben to eat.”

Both girls were found to be in great pain and hoping for a good night’s sleep. Family friends asked for continued prayers for the Pugh family. Ashley thanked everyone who prayed, supported, donated or helped in any way.

A donation page was launched Thursday morning and fans can donate by clicking here.

Fightful continues to send our love, support and prayers to the Pugh family.
