A rather unusual helicopter accident blocked a road in Louisiana last Friday after the truck carrying the aircraft attempted to pass under an overpass.
It was Friday morning when a truck driver transporting a helicopter became stuck under Highway 12 on Range Avenue in Denham Springs. The machine’s rotor would have collided with a support beam underneath the infrastructure, local broadcaster WBRZ reported.
You should know that a sign states that the height of the viaduct is 15 feet. However, according to technical information, the aircraft measures a height of 15.5 feet. Fortunately, neither the bridge nor the highway were damaged.
The truck driver, Miguel Rodriguez, 56, was ticketed for careless driving, the Denham Springs Police Department confirmed.
Police have not released information about the damaged helicopter, but images show the plane appears to resemble a Sikorsky S-92, which costs $30 million.
