ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Italy supports every possible way to achieve a just peace in Ukraine, which means Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity. But in the meantime, the brutal and indiscriminate Russian attacks continue. More generally, the global consequences of the conflict, particularly in relation to food and energy security, remain severe. The conflict must be ended as soon as possible, but then the allied countries of Ukraine must be clear that we must do everything we can to help this nation in its struggle for independence,” Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said in an interview with Corriere della sera. “Italy has already provided Ukraine with 5 defense aid packages worth about 1 billion. A sixth package is being prepared – he explains – which will include air defense systems. Minister Kuleba thanked for the support provided, I repeated that it will continue like this. In collaboration with France, we are finalizing the dispatch of Samp-T and, in any case, there are other actions that we are working on confidentially,” adds the minister, stressing that Parliament “always informs about any initiative and any future dispatch is of material military. I remind you that the Ukrainian decree extended the possibility of deliveries until 2023. We will respect the commitment made.”
For Tajani, “more than ever, consistency and maximum collaboration with international partners are essential at this stage.” Tajani comments on possible disinformation actions by Russia: “The war must not force a single thought on us, I say that first, but we must not allow ourselves to be impaled by untruths and poisons either.”
