Lyudmila’s estate? Except for sanctions. Like all of Vladimir Putin’s family members, the 64-year-old ex-wife of the Russian President is trying to avoid leaks of her private life. Artur Ocheretny, her husband who is 20 years her junior and who married in 2015 after 30 years of marriage to Putin and divorced in 2013, has also attracted little attention. The service published by Deutsche Bild with the rare photo of Lyudmila and Artur holding hands is therefore particularly noteworthy.

The German newspaper reports on the discoveries of Russian activist Maria Pevchikh, collaborator of Russian dissident blogger Alexei Navalny, about the couple’s life between travel and luxury real estate: two apartments in Marbella, Spain, worth 2.2 million euros; an apartment in Switzerland, in Davos, worth 3.7 million euros; and a villa on the French Atlantic coast in Anglet near Biarritz, surrounded by a 5,000 square meter park, valued at 5.3 million euros. To avoid sanctions against people close to Putin, Lyudmila registered all property in her new husband’s name.

Since May, only Great Britain has included her and her two daughters in the list of people sanctioned for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and banned her from the country. Pevchikh has criticized governments for failing to take action against the former Russian first lady and her husband. According to the activist, Artur Ocheretny had no job or assets before marrying Lyudmila. Today he is a millionaire.
