The Sea King helicopters donated by the UK have arrived in Ukraine, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said. He did not specify the number of aircraft received. “This is a great reinforcement for the Ukrainian Navy. Our cooperation will continue to grow,” Reznikov said on Twitter, thanking his British counterpart Ben Wallace. In November, London announced it would send three Sea King helicopters to Ukraine.

The Pentagon has decided to extend the deployment of around 4,000 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division at the Mihail Kogalniceanu base in southeastern Romania by at least another nine months. The New York Times reported today, citing US officials. Over the past year, the Mihail Kogalniceanu airbase on the Black Sea has developed into a training center for NATO forces in south-eastern Europe. The military present there “would be a first line of defense should Russia invade further west,” the newspaper stressed.
19:02 – Russia, air defense exercises in the Moscow region
Exercises on Russian air defense systems were held today in the Moscow region. This was announced by the country’s Ministry of Defense, as reported by the independent website Meduza. According to the ministry, the crews of the S-300 surface-to-air missile systems have learned to “repel airstrikes against key military, industrial and administrative targets.” The exercise comes after photos and videos of air defense systems installed in and around Moscow surfaced on the internet a few days ago. According to Bloomberg, the installations reflect Russian leaders’ fears that Ukraine could launch drone strikes on Moscow.
