Ukraine: Putin, “Invasion attempt to stop war in Donbass” ANSA news agency

(ANSA) – MOSCOW, JAN 18 – Russian President Vladimir Putin has defined the bloody invasion of Ukraine as ordering “an attempt to end the war” that began in Donbass in 2014, Interfax news agency reports. It is estimated that tens of thousands of people, including scores of civilians, have died in the conflict in Ukraine following the invasion by Russian troops that began in February last year.

“Everything we are doing today, including during the special military operation, is an attempt to stop this war” in Donbass. “This is the purpose of our operation,” Putin said at a meeting devoted to the siege of Leningrad. (HAND).
