Ukraine, media: Russia opens direct negotiations between Putin and Zelenskyi

Russia is ready to work on a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy who could negotiate a peace deal directly. This was reported by the Turkish broadcaster CNN, citing sources from the Ankara government. According to the same sources, Moscow has changed its position regarding a meeting between the two leaders and relaxed conditions.

“Leaders can discuss and define a roadmap. The delegations can then work to put this roadmap into practice,” the sources, quoted by Turkey’s CNN, said. Russia had previously only discussed a possible meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy after the two negotiating teams had developed a roadmap for peace.

And the meeting between Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is currently taking place in Lviv, reports the Turkish television channel A Haber. The meeting will focus on the latest progress made with the July 22 agreement in Istanbul on grain corridors, but also on a possible meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin in Turkey.
