Ukraine again bombed areas of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

“For more than an hour, terrorists from the Ukrainian armed forces fired massive artillery shells. Explosions were recorded in Energodar, near the nuclear power plant, in residential areas of the city and in the industrial zone,” they said.

For its part, the local military-civic administration also condemned the opening of fire again on the civilian population and the city’s infrastructure from the opposite bank of the Dnieper River.

For the time being, the emergency services are gathering information about the victims and the damage to the facilities.

At the same time, the member of the Main Council of the Military-Civic Administration of the Zaporozhye Province Vladimir Rogov wrote in his telegram report that about 25 heavy artillery attacks were made on the plant premises and the surrounding areas for two hours.

In recent weeks, the nuclear power plant has been the target of attacks by the Kiev military on several occasions.

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that Ukraine’s bombing of the power plant was “an act of nuclear terrorism” and could cause a disaster worse than the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

In this context, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, María Zajárova, described the Western agreement on the nuclear power plant on Monday as “criminal”.

The spokeswoman also condemned attempts to obstruct the visit of the nuclear agency’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission, adding that Moscow will do whatever is necessary to carry out the visit.

“Further approval by Western officials in Ukraine is simply criminal, even towards their own citizens. These people, as well as residents of Russia and Ukraine, will be at immeasurable risk if Stepan Bandera’s ultra-nationalist supporters don’t stop the attacks,” Zajárova said.

The diplomat said that Moscow “urges Washington, Brussels and other capitals, mainly European ones, to stop the irresponsible games and intrigues surrounding Zaporozhye and immediately influence the Kiev authorities to force them to stop the bombing of the plant and its adjacent areas set”.
