The light heavyweight finally has a new champion after Jamahal Hill defeated Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 283 on Saturday.
Hill (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) claimed the vacant 205-pound belt when he earned a unanimous decision win over Teixeira (33-9 MMA, 16-7 UFC), who subsequently retired from MMA, in the pay-per-view headlining held at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
With the triumph, Hill becomes the 18th fighter to hold the light heavyweight belt.
