The future of the Canadian Armed Forces is at stake

Two sexual assault charges against a retired lieutenant general

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) has filed two civil charges against retired Lt. Gen. Trevor Cadieu over sexual incidents that allegedly took place at the Royal Military College, Kingston, in 1994.

The news was shared by the Provost Marshal’s Office of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) on Wednesday afternoon.

These allegations stem from months of investigations by the SNEFC. The allegations first surfaced on the army’s radar last September.

Mr Cadieu, who has so far denied the allegations against him, was approached for the post of commander of the CAF before Chief of Staff Wayne Eyre ruled otherwise.

The former lieutenant general decided to retire on April 5 while investigations against him were ongoing.

Various media outlets reported that shortly after leaving the CAF, Cadieu traveled to Ukraine to help repel Russian forces.
