Tuca & Bertie, the popular animated comedy starring Ali Wong and Tiffany Haddish, has been cancelled. Like Netflix before them, Adult Swim will no longer be making new episodes. Though it’s an honor, Adult Swim ran the show for a second season before giving it the axe.

Terminating Tuca & Bertie has never been easier. It was tough for the people who made it and the fans who watched it when the show was originally canceled by Netflix in 2019. Adult Swim surprisingly came in to snag the show in 2020 and let it run for two seasons with increased viewership. by appointment.

“Tuca & Bertie has unfortunately been cancelled,” tweeted show creator Lisa Hanawalt. But as before, Hanawalt believes the show will continue in some ways.

“I still have a beautiful and strange ending in mind for T&B, hopefully one day we’ll get a chance to finish her story,” Hanawalt wrote in a statement. “Meanwhile, I’m not done with creating. I’ve seen so many people connect with this show in profound ways and I intend to tell stories like this no matter what.”

To all of our fans – we love you and can’t thank you enough for your support over the years. Please never stop making weird fan art (and dressing up as characters for Halloween!), it brings me endless joy.

Working with Adult Swim has been creatively fulfilling, our leaders have all been smart and thoughtful, and I’m grateful that we’ve been given the space to do all these wild and heartfelt episodes about things that are very important to me.

I’m so proud of the work of all my talented colleagues and collaborators on this show. Please review the credits and note all of these cast and crew names. I’m also very glad we got coverage from The Animation Guild and the Writers Guild of America. I hope that all show makers who have the leverage to fight to have their productions unionized will continue to do so.

I still have a beautiful and weird ending in mind for T&B, hopefully one day we’ll get a chance to finish this story. In the meantime, I’m not done building it yet. I’ve seen so many people connect with this show on a profound level and I intend to tell stories like this no matter what.
