Trump kicks off primary campaign in New Hampshire

With a declaration of war against the “corrupt political establishment”, Donald Trump tried yesterday to give impetus to his renewed candidacy for president of the United States. He was “more angry and determined than ever,” Trump told several hundred people in the small town of Salem, New Hampshire. “We need a president who is ready from day one,” said the 76-year-old president.

He later traveled to Columbia, the state capital of South Carolina, for a second appearance, where he wanted to introduce his campaign team. Both events are aimed at giving his faltering campaign a boost after Trump announced in mid-November that he would run for president for a third time.

Harsh accusations against critics

There have been no noticeable changes to his political message: Trump has repeated his oft-disproved allegations of voter fraud and has given derogatory nicknames to his political rivals. He leveled the most scathing accusations against critics from his own conservative ranks, who were “even more dangerous than the Democrats”.

Several former Trump supporters have publicly stated that they will no longer support Trump with donations in 2024, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will. He was triumphantly re-elected as governor of Florida in the midterm elections, but has yet to officially announce his candidacy.
