Donald Trump once questioned whether a hypothetical transgender student had a “schlong” during debate preparations in the 2016 presidential campaign, a new book excerpt suggested Wednesday.
According to the excerpt published in The Daily Beast, the student was roleplayed by then-campaign adviser Reince Priebus to help Trump practice a possible scenario in his town hall debate against Hillary Clinton in St. Louis.
New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman reports several instances of alleged homophobia and anti-LGBTQ commentary in her forthcoming book, Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump And The Breaking Of America.
A week before he ran against Clinton, Haberman writes, Priebus posed as a female transgender student who asked Trump if she could use the girls’ bathroom at school.
Trump asked if the student theoretically still had a penis.
‘C***ed or dec***ed?’ he allegedly inquired.
He reportedly tried to explain himself with a “hacking gesture” when he was met with “sheer” confusion.
‘With c*** or without c***?’ asked Trump again.

When advisors asked why it mattered what genitals the student had, the former president retorted, “What if a girl was in the bathroom and someone came in and lifted a skirt and had a dick hanging out?”
Haberman’s book reportedly details a long history of “lurid” comments from Trump, with many reportedly believing he was “trying to shock” in his interactions.
The transgender student was played by former White House adviser and later White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus
She claims Trump called reporters early in the AIDS crisis to find out if anyone he knew was gay.
A more recent excerpt claims he went out of his way to indicate the degree of heterosexuality of his former adviser, Jason Miller.
He apparently said during a meeting with them and former Vice President Mike Pence that Miller “likes the ladies.”
“You know how sometimes someone later turns out to be gay and you knew it? This guy isn’t even 1 percent gay,” Trump allegedly said of Miller.
Trump was filmed in March of this year telling a supporter he didn’t “look gay” during a fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago, Florida retreat.
The ex-president chaired the event to support John Gibbs, a former Trump administration official who unseated Rep. Peter Meijer in the Aug. 2 Michigan Republican primary.

A person is heard shouting “Gays for Trump!” apparently modeled after the pro-Trump LGBT group of the same name, according to a video shared by Patriot Takes.
When the person identified himself, Trump quipped, “You don’t look gay.”
He continued, “As you know, we’ve done a great job with the gay population,” before the 17-second clip ends.
Despite a small but vocal group of consistent supporters within the LGBTQI+ community, the former president was widely panned by gay and lesbian groups during his tenure.
A LGBT medical research and advocacy policy brief released by the Fenway Institute near the end of Trump’s presidency found that he “enacted more anti-LGBTQIA+ policies than any previous administration in history.”
