The City of Montreal will provide $200,000 for this. The grand opening at 625 Milton Street, scheduled for this fall, will also kick off celebrations for the painter’s 100th birthday.
“Wall art is an extraordinary way to democratize access to culture and beautify our city, and who better to introduce his work to the people of Montreal than Marc Séguin,” Mayor Valérie Plante said in a press release.
Remember that last year a competition was launched by the Jean Paul Riopelle Foundation and the organization MU.
“We are all the more excited about the idea that the world-renowned Quebec painter Marc Séguin, for whom Riopelle remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration, was chosen to create this fresco that will define the landscape for generations to come in the artist’s native metropolis,” added the Executive Director of the Jean Paul Riopelle Foundation, Manon Gauthier.
