Tom Brady and Tampa Bay should split, says ex-Bucs QB Shaun King

Tom Brady and Tampa Bay should split, says ex-Bucs QB Shaun King as he admits QB has understandably “got old” but is “afraid to throw when there’s chaos around him” … and demands his old team to go in ‘a ‘other direction’

Former Buccaneers quarterback Shaun King is hoping Tampa Bay will “go in a different direction” than Tom Brady and start rebuilding before it’s too late.

King was on the Tampa Bay roster for five years from 1999 to 2003, where he spent most of his career as a backup on the sidelines.

“I grew up a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I’m from St. Petersburg, Florida, that was my team. I’ve been rolling with them since he banged Bruce on the helmet. I rode it after we won the Super Bowl. Until Brady got there, we weren’t doing very well,” he told the New York Post.

“This is my squad. And I think now is the time for this organization to go in a different direction. That focus is on rebuilding and restoring the younger core that we can move with.’

Though King urged his former team to sever ties with Brady, he was still careful to credit Brady for the success he’s had in his career and pointed out why he believes it’s time for both parties to move on.

“Ten Super Bowls, seven wins, I think three Super Bowl MVPs, two regular season MVPs, anything, that’s a lot. And I don’t think we’re going to see a duplicate, but heck everyone’s getting old,” King added.

“So why would everyone want to attack someone who says Tom Brady has gotten old? He has grown old. He looks like he’s afraid to throw when there’s chaos around him. Whenever there’s pressure, he’s not the same guy he used to be.”

King also stressed that if Brady chooses to stay in the NFL, he will continue to fight for him regardless of which team he may transfer to.

“If Tom decides to go and play somewhere else, I will be his biggest fan. But I just hope the Tampa days are over because I think this particular group has peaked and is now on the retreat,” King said.

“And I just want us to go ahead and hit the reset button while we still can.”
