Tina Fey returns to her role as Ms Norbury in the film musical Mean Girls

Tina Fey appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday night and shared some big news.

The former Saturday Night Live star, 52, announced she will be reprising her role as Ms Norbury for the musical adaptation of her hit film Mean Girls.

The Wine Country actress, who just announced a comedy tour with Amy Poehler, will also write and produce the film.

And Tina’s SNL colleague Tim Meadows will also be reprising his role as Principal Ron Duvall.

Mean Girls is a family affair for the 30-year-old rock star. Not only did she write the original 2004 film, she also wrote the book for the musical – which earned her a Tony nomination – and her husband Jeff Richmond co-wrote the music.

Reneé Rapp, who played Regina George in the Broadway adaptation of Mean Girls, will also star in the film. She is best known for starring in HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls.

Angourie Rice will play Cady Heron, the role originally played by Lindsay Lohan in the 2004 film. Angourie is best known for playing Betty Brant in the Spider-Man films.

Lizzy Caplan’s role as Janis is portrayed by Auli’i Cravalho, best known for voicing the title role in Moana.

And the movie musical Mean Girls isn’t the only thing Tina is currently working on.

On Monday, the Baby Mama star and Amy Poehler announced they were going on a comedy tour together.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey: Restless Leg Tour celebrates the duo’s 30 years of friendship and creative collaboration.

The Sisters stars will play in four East Coast and Midwest cities beginning in Spring 2023. The tour kicks off in Washington DC on April 28th and travels to Chicago, Boston and Atlantic City.

The SNL alumni said the tour will “celebrate their 30-year friendship with an evening of quips, iconic stories and entertaining entertainment.”

The ladies joked in a joint statement: “If this tour goes well, we can finally end this friendship.”

Amy and Tina met in 1993 on the improv scene in Chicago. Amy wrote about meeting Tina in her 2014 memoir Yes Please.

Tina joined Saturday Night Live in 1997 and Amy in 2001.

Tina is currently filming A Haunting in Venice, Italy with co-star Kenneth Branagh, 62.

The film is based on “Halloween Party” by author Agatha Christie and co-stars Jamie Dornan and Michelle Yeoh.

The film is set in post-war Venice on All Hallows Eve.

The story follows retired detective Hercules Poirot – played for the third time by Branagh – living in self-imposed exile before he is lured in to solve another mystery.

Currently, the film has a September 2023 release date.
