Christian Bale has been known throughout his career for his ability to completely transform in any role. Despite this, it is still surprising to see the old Batman from the Dark Knight trilogy as the villainous Gorr from Thor: Love and Thunder. In new backstage photos, the actor is super expressive during makeup tests.

The images were released by practical effects studio Odd Studio, who were responsible for transforming the actor into the look dictated by the villain’s concept arts. It took a very full team, with a designer responsible for prosthetics, hair, nails and even teeth all to ensure the character’s onscreen insanity was perfect. Check the initial result:

In the end is the look of the butcher of the gods helped further enhance Bale’s acting, who in this version functions as an interstellar bogeyman. With such dedication, the look took only a few tweaks from Marvel’s special effects team, who complained about overwork and poor working conditions.
