In his memoir, published on January 10, Prince Harry reveals the name of his mother’s latest perfume. And the one that helped him a lot during his therapy is still available on Sephora.

“At the beginning of the session I opened the bottle and smelled it deeply. Like LSD,” Prince Harry said in his memoirs. He was only 12 years old when his mother tragically died under the Alma Bridge on August 31, 1997. And when he’s not really talking about it, the youngest of the royal family breaks down. To cope with the death of his dear mother, Lady Diana, Harry seeks therapy. During one of his sessions, he brings the former princess’s perfume. “I remembered at bedtime in Kensington Palace, saying goodnight to her at the bottom of the stairs and kissing her on the neck, inhaling her scent before lying down in the dark,” says Harry in his book.

This perfume that helped him so much to get over the death of the woman he loved most in the world is “First”, by Van Cleef and Arpels. And since the secrets of the Duke of Sussex, stocks are emptying at breakneck speed. No more bottles on Marionnaud, no more on Nocibé. But if it’s sold out at Sephora in 60ml, you can still find it in its 90ml and 100ml formats.

If it is the perfume “Quelques Fleurs” by Houbigant Paris that Lady Diana wore to her marriage to Prince Charles in 1986, it is in fact a Van Cleef and Arpels fragrance that she used later and up to his death took over.

Created by Jean-Claude Ellena, one of the greatest French noses, the perfume “First” was launched in the 1970s. While patchouli was the top priority at the time, the perfumer imbued his new fragrance with oriental scents. In the first place are notes of peach, raspberry and hyacinth. Closely followed by a mix of rose, lily of the valley and iris. Then with notes of amber, honey, sandalwood and vetiver. A real bouquet of flowers that Lady Diana was in love with. And she’s not the only one.

“I think it’s one of the most beautiful perfumes ever made.”

On the various perfume pages, the women who have adopted this fragrance leave wonderful comments. “A sublime perfume that I’ve worn for 30 years,” reveals one of them on Sephora. “I’ve worn ‘First’ for decades, it’s almost become my ‘signature’. At Nocibé, a customer does not hesitate to confide what this bottle represents to her: “I received it during her marriage proposal and the engagement ring was hidden in the box! Quite an icon…that was in 1978.” Today, she stays true to First, making sure it’s powerful and long-lasting.
