This is how Notre Dame de Paris is reborn: in the surroundings there will be trees, a multifunctional area and a fountain

Notre-Dame de Paris is still being restored after the tragic fire of 2019, while in the meantime we plan to reinvent the cathedral’s setting in a green key. The winning project, by the team of Belgian landscape architect Bet Smets, envisages a 30% increase in green space in the Parisian district around the cathedral, with a semi-subterranean space overlooking the Seine, pedestrian promenades, trees and benches. Part of the work is scheduled for completion in 2024, while completion is expected by 2027. The project was presented by the community with a 3D rendering of what the area should look like.
