They arrest Cuban migrants hiding in a house in Mexico

Mexican authorities this Friday arrested 24 migrants from Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, China and Guatemala who were hiding in a house in Santa María Xonacatepec, Puebla state.

The Minister of Public Security said in a statement that agents from the state and city police and the army conducted a search to locate the people, including 20 adults and four minors.

The detainees have been made available to federal authorities trying to stem the flow of migrants crossing Mexico toward the United States border.

Although the number of people by nationality is not detailed, the increase in the presence of Cubans in Aztec lands with the aim of migrating to the United States is noteworthy.

Last August 1st in Oaxaca 26 Cubans who were in a migratory situation were arrested irregular in the country, in a group of 84 foreigners, eight of whom were from Ecuador, four from Guatemala, six from Nicaragua, four from Venezuela, five from El Salvador and four from Honduras.

This Friday also turned out that the Mexican Navy saved three Cuban rafters shipwrecked less than five miles from Isla Pérez in the reef of Alacranes, Yucatán state.

Many make the crossing in dangerous vehicles, as in the case of 45 migrants rescued on August 2 a cramped, unventilated truckfive of whom were from the island.

The US reported in July that more than 160,000 Cubans had arrived at its border with Mexico in the past nine months.
