They are preparing the return of “Papá Soltero” with a sequel

Mexico City.— After 36 years since it began broadcasting, the hit show Papá Soltero, starring César Costa, is preparing to return with a sequel called Abuelo Soltero.

“I’m really happy for Abuelo Soltero. I feel very good, I feel productive because I have several projects on the horizon that haven’t materialized yet. I’m an enemy of telling projects like crazy when they’re more armed and are more specific I’d be happy to tell you about it,” Costa said succinctly in an interview.

In the storyline, set in a building in the old DF, Costa played a widowed father who had to take care of his three children (Gerardo Quiroz, Edith Márquez and Luis Mario Quiroz).

The new version, which aims to show the development of the characters, will not feature Marquez, who refused to take part in order to fulfill his musical commitments, although Graciela Mauri will step in instead.

Actress Lupita Sandoval will play the role of Gumara in place of Aurora Alonso, who died on June 11, 2004.

“It’s a shame the original cast can’t be there, but many have preceded us. We are the ones who have to be there. We want to save the original values as we have done so far. The program brings messages of love, unity and respect. We want to contribute beautiful things,” said José Luis Cordero in an interview.

Cordero played “Pocholo” in the original show, the bouncer of the building where the story takes place, and he will reprise his role.

Papá Soltero started in 1987 and went off the air in 1994 and was in the first places of the audience’s preferences.

Although there is no exact date for the premiere, Abuelo Soltero will soon be broadcast on Televisa’s Channel 2.
