Quebec’s quantum computer, based on IBM’s 127-qubit Quantum System One architecture, will be commissioned by the NPO, whose mission is to accelerate the digital transformation of Quebec’s businesses and organizations.

Intended to be a tool for companies with quantum knowledge, this computer will offer an opportunity for the Quebec ecosystem to develop its know-how in quantum technologies, in particular with the aim of generating savings for companies.

The announcement of this new quantum service offering was made in Montreal on Monday in the presence of Minister for Economy, Innovation and Energy Pierre Fitsgibbon and Director of Quantum at IBM Jay Gambetta.

“Thanks to Quebec’s quantum computer […]We are joining a very small global group that has access to such sophisticated technology that will produce a multitude of discoveries and breakthroughs over the years,” said Éric Capelle, CEO of PINQ2.

“The PINQ2 platform is set to play a key role in Quebec’s digital transformation. […] Businesses can undertake innovative research and development projects that contribute to their productivity and to Québec’s competitiveness,” Minister Fitzgibbon said.
