It was not easy for Andrea to process the loss of his father and after his death he had to come to terms with the thought of no longer having one of the most important people in his life by his side. “I would have liked to have stood up to him, spoken to him, shared his joy and sorrow,” he says and says that he avoided talking about his loss for a long time to avoid sympathetic looks: “That’s a key that I try to avoid because as a child I remember the eyes that looked at you tenderly and that I wouldn’t have wanted”.
“The real strength of the family was my mother,” Andrea continues, recounting how his mother ran the family alone and managed to never wish for anything on him. The former footballer ends his story with the sweet memory of a car ride with his family. “I miss him,” he says, remembering his father with tears in his eyes.
